The National Intelligence Centre (CNI), on which the CCN depends and with which it shares equipment, procedures, standards and resources, is the public Organisation responsible for providing the President of the Government and the Government of the Nation with the information, analysis, studies or proposals that help prevent or avoid any danger, threat or attack on the independence or territorial integrity and stability of the Rule of Law and its institutions. This assignment is specific for different functions (art.4 of Law 11/2002 dated 6th May), defining their tasks and fields of action, that are itemised and developed in the Intelligence Directive every year.
The CNI depends organically on the Ministry of Defense.
